Job Description
SC & NPPV3 Cleared AWS Cloud Architect
\n We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to support the continued development of a secure cloud-hosting platform used across a major public-sector programme.
This is a senior, hands-on architecture role covering cloud integration, identity security, Dev Sec Ops, threat monitoring and technical assurance.
\n The Role
\n You will provide architecture leadership across the AWS platform, helping onboard new applications and ensuring that security, integration and operational requirements are reflected within the technical design.
You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure and security teams, producing architecture artefacts, resolving complex design issues and identifying opportunities to improve platform resilience and security.
\n Key Responsibilities
\n \n
- Provide technical and infrastructure architecture oversight across an AWS-hosted platform.
\n - Translate business needs into traceable technical and security requirements.
\n - Produce high-level designs, architecture decisions and supporting technical documentation.
\n - Review solution designs, supplier proposals and technical notes.
\n - Lead the resolution of architecture, integration and platform-level issues.
\n - Identify technical risks, security weaknesses and areas of technical debt.
\n - Design secure integration between Microsoft Entra ID and AWS.
\n - Develop conditional-access, privileged-access and approval policies.
\n - Improve the resilience and availability of identity services, including Keycloak and OTP solutions.
\n - Embed automated security controls into Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
\n - Design security monitoring using services such as AWS Security Lake, Cloud Watch and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
\n - Support threat detection through centralised logging, tailored alerts and anomaly monitoring.
\n - Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.

\n Essential
\n \n - Strong AWS cloud and security architecture experience.
\n - Experience designing secure, resilient enterprise cloud platforms.
\n - Excellent knowledge of identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID.
\n - Experience with privileged identity management, conditional access and access-control policies.
\n - Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly Terraform.
\n - Knowledge of Dev Sec Ops practices and security automation within CI/CD pipelines.
\n - Experience designing cloud logging, monitoring and threat-detection capabilities.
\n - Ability to create architecture designs and communicate technical decisions clearly.
\n - Strong stakeholder-management and technical-assurance experience.

\n Desirable
\n \n - Experience with AWS EKS and highly available containerised deployments.
\n - Knowledge of Keycloak, Open OTP or comparable identity platforms.
\n - Experience integrating Microsoft Defender for Cloud with AWS services.
\n - Knowledge of AWS Security Lake, Cloud Watch, Lambda and Step Functions.
\n - Previous delivery experience within government, policing or another highly regulated environment.
\n - Experience mentoring engineers and improving security practices across multidisciplinary teams.
