Are you an experienced Data Architect with a strong background in modern data platforms, cloud-native architecture and Databricks? We're supporting a major programme that is modernising and transforming large-scale data processing capabilities and are looking for a hands-on architect who can bridge strategy, design and delivery.
This position will play a key role in shaping and delivering a cloud-based data platform built around AWS and Databricks. You'll work across architecture, engineering and stakeholder teams to define target-state solutions, modernise existing data services and establish scalable deployment patterns.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both the architectural and technical implementation layers, helping to guide migration activity while remaining hands-on with infrastructure, automation and platform delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design scalable data processing solutions using AWS, Databricks and associated cloud services.
- Lead the transition of existing data workloads and integrations onto a modern cloud-native platform.
- Define platform standards covering security, networking, governance, workspace configuration and deployment approaches.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Databricks asset deployment frameworks.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and modern DevOps practices.
- Configure, deploy and manage services across AWS and Databricks environments.
- Integrate new platform capabilities with existing enterprise applications and data services.
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand current-state architectures and migration priorities.
- Provide technical leadership around streaming and batch processing, orchestration, observability, data quality and operational resilience.
- Produce high-quality architecture documentation, implementation roadmaps and operational guidance.
Essential
- Strong experience designing and delivering solutions within AWS cloud environments.
- Proven expertise with Databricks architecture, implementation and operational management.
- Experience building data platforms, pipelines and integration services at scale.
- Hands-on Terraform experience for infrastructure provisioning and environment management.
- Strong CI/CD knowledge, including GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of modern data architecture principles including governance, security and observability.
- Experience working across both solution design and technical delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
- Active SC Clearance.
Desirable
- Experience migrating Legacy or on-premise data platforms into cloud-native environments.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working within large, complex transformation programmes.
- Exposure to master data management or enterprise data matching solutions.

- Contract: 6 months Initial Contract + extensions
- IR35 Status: Inside IR35
- Rate: £550-600p/d
- Location: Primarily Remote with occasional travel to client sites as required
- Clearance: Active SC Clearance Required
