Primarily remote - ad hoc travel to London. We are seeking a senior Finance Operating Model Subject Matter Expert with deep experience in the Life & Pensions industry to support the design of a future-state Finance operating model. The engagement focuses on advising what the right Finance model and organisational design should look like for an L&P group moving toward a streamlined central Finance function, with greater autonomy and accountability sitting within underlying operating companies. This role is heavily advisory and thought-leadership driven.
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior Finance SME to define and critique target operating model options for Finance within an L&P group structure
- Advise on the optimal split of responsibilities between central Finance and standalone entity Finance teams
- Design and assess Finance organisational structures, roles, and governance models to support decentralisation
- Provide end-to-end insight across core Finance processes, including:
- Financial control and reporting
- Management information (MI) and performance reporting
- Statutory, regulatory, and group reporting
- Planning, budgeting, and forecasting
Required Experience
- Former Finance Director, Group Finance Director, Head of Finance, or equivalent within a Life & Pensions organisation
- Experience operating within a group structure, ideally with multiple legal entities or business units
- Strong, demonstrable end-to-end Finance process knowledge within L&P
- Deep understanding of L&P-specific reporting and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience designing, running, or reshaping Finance operating models (centralised, decentralised, or hybrid)
- Ability to operate credibly at exec and board level, articulating complex Finance models clearly and confidently
