We're looking for an experienced Solution Architect with a wealth of experience working within central government to support a programme delivering large-scale, data-driven and digital services. This role will play a key part in shaping solution design, aligning technology choices to business outcomes, and ensuring delivery is robust, scalable, and secure.

As a Solution Architect, you'll work closely with technical teams, delivery leads, and stakeholders to define end-to-end solution designs across complex programmes. You'll provide architectural oversight, support delivery teams, and ensure solutions align to organisational strategy, standards, and best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own solution architecture designs across one or more workstreams
  • Translate business and user needs into clear, pragmatic technical solutions
  • Provide architectural governance, assurance, and design authority
  • Collaborate with engineering, data, security, and delivery teams
  • Produce high-level and detailed architecture artefacts (HLDs, LLDs, diagrams)
  • Support technical decision-making and resolve design risks and constraints

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Solution Architect on complex programmes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work with incomplete requirements and provide structure and clarity
  • Background in UK central government departments
  • Experience working on data, digital, or cloud-based platforms
  • Familiarity with government architecture standards and frameworks
  • Client facing experience via a consultancy
