Forward Deployed Engineers don't start out with that title.
They start by becoming exceptional at understanding customer problems, communicating with stakeholders, debugging complex systems, and taking ownership of issues from first conversation through to production.
If that's the direction you want your career to head in, this is the sort of role that builds exactly those skills.
We're working with an AI-native startup that's helping organisations adopt AI at scale, and they're looking for someone who's ambitious, technically curious, and excited by the idea of growing alongside the business.
This isn't a traditional support role, and it isn't pure software engineering either.
You'll sit at the intersection of Engineering, Product and Customer Success, working directly with enterprise customers to understand technical challenges, troubleshoot issues and improve the platform.
Rather than handing problems off, you'll own them end-to-end, writing production code where needed and feeding customer insight directly back into the product.
Around 70% of your time will be customer-facing, with the remaining 30% spent writing code, improving tooling and making the platform better for every customer.
You’ll be responsible for
- Becoming a trusted technical partner for enterprise customers.
- Investigating and resolving issues across the application, APIs and integrations.
- Debugging production problems across frontend, backend and infrastructure.
- Writing code to improve reliability and eliminate recurring customer pain points.
- Building internal tools and automation that improve the customer experience.
- Working closely with Product and Engineering to shape what gets built next.
They’re looking for someone who
- Wants a role that’s equal parts engineering and customer interaction.
- Has experience debugging modern web applications, ideally across the stack.
- Communicates confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Takes ownership and enjoys seeing problems through to resolution.
- Is ambitious and excited by AI, startups and continuous learning.
- Strong progression opportunities within a fast growing business.
- Work directly with senior stakeholders, enterprise customers and the engineering leadership team from day one.
- Join a product that’s already proving itself in the market but still has enormous room to evolve.
- High ownership, high autonomy and plenty of influence over both the product and customer experience.
- An ambitious, high-performing team that expects a lot of each other but gives you every opportunity to grow.
- Meaningful equity alongside a competitive salary, giving you a real stake in the company’s success.
This role would suit someone who’s technically strong but wants broader exposure than pure software engineering.
If you’re excited by working directly with customers, influencing product direction, owning problems end-to-end and building towards a Forward Deployed Engineering career, I’d love to tell you more!
