A fast-growing B2B SaaS company is building a next-generation payments and data platform serving enterprise clients across insurance and financial services. The business is scaling rapidly and is looking for an Implementation Engineer to lead client onboarding, data integration, and end-to-end delivery of complex technical solutions. This is a hybrid role combining client-facing consulting, data engineering, and solution design.
You’ll work directly with external clients to deeply understand their data, operational workflows, and payment processes, translating that into scalable, production-grade solutions.
The Role
You’ll own onboarding projects from discovery through go-live, building ingestion pipelines, mapping logic, and reconciliation workflows tailored to each client. Working closely with Product and Engineering teams, you’ll continuously improve the onboarding experience and platform capabilities. This role suits someone who enjoys solving messy data problems, working directly with customers, and having real ownership in a scaling startup environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Client Discovery and Requirements
- Lead technical discovery sessions to map data sources, workflows, and reconciliation processes.
- Uncover edge cases, undocumented logic, and operational nuances.
- Translate business and operational needs into clear technical specifications.
- Data Analysis and Integration
- Analyse complex datasets (Excel, CSV, PDFs, data feeds) and identify required transformations.
- Design and implement data mappings, validation rules, and ingestion workflows.
- Transform inconsistent or messy data into clean, structured formats aligned with internal schemas.
- Solution Design and Delivery
- Architect and configure client-specific ingestion, matching, and reconciliation rules.
- Build proof-of-concept integrations to demonstrate platform value early.
- Execute full implementation cycles including testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Client Communication and Success
- Act as the primary technical point of contact during onboarding.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Build strong client relationships through consistent delivery and structured solutions.
- Platform and Process Improvement
- Identify reusable onboarding patterns and contribute to templates and tooling.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to improve platform capabilities.
- Help standardise and scale onboarding processes.
What We’re Looking For:
Core Skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex workflows.
- Experience working with CSV, Excel, SQL databases, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve data quality, transformation, and mapping issues.
- Comfortable leading client discussions and working through ambiguity.
Nice to Have
- Background in fintech, insurance, payments, or reconciliation systems.
- Experience in implementation engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, ETL pipelines, matching logic, or financial data models.
Personal Attributes
- High ownership and accountability.
- Clear, confident communicator.
- Comfortable in fast-moving startup environments.
- Curious problem solver with strong attention to detail.
Benefits
- Hybrid working model (central London office)
- Private healthcare
- Regular team lunches and international offsites
- High-spec technical equipment
- 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays
