Hiring: Principal Network & Security Consultant - £80,000 - £100,000 | Remote | Consulting
SR2 is partnering with an exciting UK technology consultancy to hire a Principal Network & Security Consultant who can combine senior level client consulting and architecture with genuinely hands on network and firewall delivery.
Fortinet sits at the heart of the technology stack, particularly FortiGate, but this is not about pushing one vendor into every environment. Our client wants someone who can understand the requirement, challenge assumptions and recommend the right-sized solution for each customer.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead network discovery sessions, audits, requirements workshops and technical assessments.
- Design LAN, WAN, WLAN, firewall, VPN, secure access and SD-WAN solutions.
- Produce HLDs, LLDs, topology diagrams, migration plans, test plans and operational documentation.
- Design, configure and troubleshoot FortiGate environments.
- Work hands on with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer across administration, policy management, logging and reporting.
- Deliver Fortinet SD-WAN, HA, segmentation, IPsec and SSL VPN solutions.
- Work across BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, LACP, QoS, routing, switching, DNS and DHCP.
- Support technologies including FortiSwitch, FortiAP, SonicWall and Netgear.
- Plan and execute firewall, WAN and switching migrations with robust testing and rollback plans.
- Take ownership of complex third-line network outages and escalations.
What we're looking for:
- Evidence of personally designing, configuring and troubleshooting production firewall and network environments.
- Experience with FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer or complex multi-site Fortinet deployments.
- Strong routing and switching fundamentals across BGP, OSPF and VLANs.
- Practical SD-WAN, HA, segmentation, VPN and secure multi-site connectivity experience.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical designs, implementation plans and operational documentation.
- Confidence leading client workshops and explaining technical decisions to different audiences.
- Experience within consultancy, MSP, systems integration or professional services.
Structure: Remote | Occasional Client Travel
