Are you passionate about shaping the future of power systems and driving the DNO-to-DSO transformation in the UK? We have partnered with an international consultancy who are looking for a Senior Operational Technology (OT) & Smart Grid Consultant to join our advisory team, working with leading utilities and grid operators across the energy sector.

What You’ll Do!

  • Serve as the go-to expert for OT in T&D, including SCADA/EMS, ADMS, DERMS, and related platforms.
  • Advise utilities on their transformation journey from DNO to DSO, aligning business processes, regulatory frameworks, and technology adoption.
  • Develop long-term smart grid roadmaps integrating renewables, storage, demand response, and EV infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity standards (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC 62351, ISO/IEC 27019).
  • Lead solution assessments and system design for OT platforms, acting as Solution Manager during pre-sales and delivery phases.
  • Contribute to projects in grid flexibility, digital twins, predictive maintenance, and market participation models.
  • Define and enforce OT cybersecurity and risk management strategies for critical infrastructure.
  • Engage with executives, regulators, and technical teams, leading workshops and supporting change management.

About You

You combine strategic insight with deep technical expertise and can bridge business objectives with operational realities. You’re confident advising senior stakeholders and thrive in dynamic, cross-functional environments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Computer Science.
  • 10+ years in T&D utilities, grid operations, or energy technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of SCADA/EMS, ADMS, DERMS, and Smart Metering systems.
  • Strong grasp of grid codes, regulatory frameworks, and DSO transition models.
  • Proven expertise in OT cybersecurity and compliance (NERC CIP, IEC 61850, ISO/IEC 27019).
  • Demonstrated experience in digital transformation and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred

  • Experience with renewable integration, storage, and EV infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of European or international regulatory regimes (ENTSO-E, Ofgem, CEER).
  • Background in smart grid, AMI, or DERMS deployments.
  • Familiarity with IoT, AI/ML, and cloud-based utility solutions.
