This is a newly enhanced role within the finance team and represents an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Management Accountant to play a key role in strengthening financial reporting, operational control, commercial insight, and business performance.

This role sits directly beneath the Head of FP&A and will provide broad exposure across management accounting, operational finance, reporting, systems improvement, and commercial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management Accounting & Financial Control
    • Ownership of monthly management accounts preparation across multiple entities
    • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
    • Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, payroll and commission accruals
    • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances
    • Maintain the fixed asset register and associated accounting
    • Produce profit centre reporting with detailed variance analysis
    • Support monthly and annual reporting requirements
    • Assist with year-end audit preparation and statutory accounting support
    • Support maintenance and improvement of financial controls and processes
  • Payroll Operational Finance
    • UK and US payroll preparation and payroll journals
    • PAYE control account reconciliations
    • Maintain P11D and PSA, reporting trackers
    • Processing and payment of supplier invoices
    • Bi-weekly supplier payment runs and ad-hoc payments
    • Bank reconciliations and cash management support
    • Weekly reporting on aged creditors, bank balances and headcount
    • Maintain supplier contracts and finance records
    • Support wider finance operations and process improvement initiatives
  • Commercial Finance & FP&A Support
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
    • Assist with KPI reporting and business performance analysis
    • Deliver meaningful financial insight to support operational decision-making
    • Support margin analysis, headcount reporting and profitability tracking
    • Assist in the development of board and leadership reporting packs
    • Work closely with the Head of FP&A to improve commercial reporting capability across the business
  • Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement
    • Support the development of finance reporting and dashboard capability
    • Assist with process automation and reporting improvements
    • Work closely with operational teams to improve data quality and reporting accuracy
    • Support integrations and reporting between finance systems, payroll and operational platforms
    • Identify opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency and controls across the finance function

About You

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Fully qualified ACCA / CIMA / ACA
  • Previous experience within a Management Accountant or Commercial Accountant role
  • Strong month-end and management accounting experience
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced SME or high-growth environment
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and reporting processes
  • Excellent Excel and reporting capability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment

Highly Desirable

  • Experience within recruitment, staffing, professional services or contractor-led businesses
  • Exposure to payroll, contractor finance or workforce solutions environments
  • Experience with Xero or similar cloud-based finance systems
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and commercial finance activities
  • Exposure to reporting automation, Power BI or data-led finance environments
  • Experience within a £20m+ turnover business
