SR2 is supporting a UK government defence programme who are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to take on a hands-on technical role with leadership responsibility within a live service environment. This is a key position providing technical escalation and direction for a small engineering team while supporting ongoing project delivery.
You’ll sit at the heart of the team, acting as the senior technical point of contact while remaining deeply hands-on. The role combines third-line support, platform ownership, and light team leadership, supporting a growing user base and evolving platform services within a secure MOD environment.
You must have Active SC clearance to apply for this role. The client cannot put you through this if you do not already have it.
Responsibilities:- Act as technical escalation and lead engineer for a small delivery team
- Build, support, and maintain Windows Server environments
- Own Active Directory, Group Policy, and core Windows platform services
- Deliver machine builds and configurations using SCCM
- Support live, customer-facing services at a third-line level
- Produce and review high-quality technical documentation
- Evolve operational processes as the platform and demand scale
- Active SC clearance
- Strong Windows Server build and support experience
- Deep knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy
- SCCM machine build and configuration experience
- Proven third-line support experience in live service environments
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to define and improve operational processes
- Defence experience
- HP ProLiant server and storage experience - desirable
- SSL certificate management (servers and desktop VPNs) - desirable
- Windows Server security hardening - desirable
- Implementing CIS benchmarks via GPO on existing servers - desirable
Overview: Inside IR35 £450p/d Remote first (1-2 days a month onsite in MoD Corsham for key meetings) 1 stage interview.
