Overview

Our client, a leading software house, is seeking a commercially driven Head of New Business to take charge of identifying, developing, and converting opportunities across key markets, including:

  • Public sector (e.g. arts, environment, local authorities, urban regeneration)
  • Aerospace – particularly sustainability and alternative fuel initiatives
  • Cultural and creative industries
  • Built environment and sustainability-focused organisations

You’ll work closely with the leadership and marketing teams to shape growth strategy, build high-value partnerships, and position the business as a trusted partner for impactful, human-centred digital innovation.

Base pay range

This range is provided by SR2 | Socially Responsible Recruitment | Certified B Corporation. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the new business strategy, aligned with the company’s values and areas of expertise
  • Identify, nurture, and convert leads across target sectors
  • Build strategic relationships in advance of public and private tenders, increasing win rates and contributing to compelling proposal responses with the wider team
  • Represent the company at industry events, networking opportunities, and client pitch meetings
  • Lead on relationship building with agencies, partners, and collaborators
  • Collaborate with marketing to shape campaigns, content, and messaging that drive lead generation
  • Maintain a strong sales pipeline and ensure an effective CRM process
  • Report on KPIs, sales performance, and revenue forecasts

About You

You’re commercially focused, values-led, and confident engaging with clients across public, cultural, and private sectors. You’ll bring a proven track record of success in business development or sales within digital, tech, or creative industries.

  • 5+ years’ experience in business development or sales within digital/tech/creative industries
  • Strong track record in lead generation and closing complex deals
  • Solid understanding of user-centred digital services
  • Skilled in consultative selling and proposal writing
  • Excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence
  • Alignment with values such as inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability
  • Experience working with the public sector or on place-based innovation projects
  • Familiarity with G-Cloud or similar government procurement frameworks
  • Knowledge of digital placemaking, wayfinding, or mobile technologies
  • Experience managing or mentoring business development staff
