I'm working with a large, purpose-driven organisation within the not-for-profit sector that's focused on improving public health and wellbeing. We're looking for a Head of Data Technology & Operations to join the technology leadership team. This is a pivotal position, responsible for the design, delivery, and continual enhancement of the organisation's data platforms, systems, and services. The successful candidate will lead and inspire multiple data teams, ensuring data assets are well-managed, insight is effectively delivered, and technology supports the organisation's long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the activities of teams across data engineering, data management, data governance, and analytics enablement.
  • Oversee the capture, prioritisation, and delivery of all data requirements, ensuring platforms and products meet organisational needs.
  • Partner with technology, business, and external stakeholders to design and evolve a robust data and analytics architecture that supports evidence-based decision-making.
  • Take ownership of the organisation's data foundations and platforms, supporting the delivery of key digital and transformation initiatives.
  • Work closely with senior technology and data leaders to shape and implement the organisation's overall data strategy.
  • Act as the senior owner of the Data Governance Framework, ensuring consistent adoption and best practice across all departments.
  • Develop and manage the roadmap for data-related projects, overseeing delivery governance and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional data teams within large, complex organisations.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data engineering, modelling, and analytics — with a focus on delivering measurable value.
  • Demonstrable success in implementing systems and processes that enhance data-driven decision-making and digital engagement.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data ecosystems such as data warehouse and lakehouse technologies (e.g. Snowflake), data ingestion pipelines, data visualisation tools, and machine learning or AI applications in data management.
  • Solid grasp of cloud and on-premise architectures, integrating both modern and legacy systems.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Experienced people leader with a track record of developing inclusive, high-performing teams and collaborating effectively with partners and suppliers.
  • Skilled communicator able to engage both technical and non-technical audiences, simplifying complex ideas and driving alignment across senior stakeholders.

What's in it for you

You’ll be joining a mission-led organisation where data and technology are central to creating meaningful social impact. In return, you can expect:

  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous pension and leave allowances.
  • Ongoing professional and personal development opportunities.
  • Access to employee wellbeing initiatives and discounts across a range of services.
  • A flexible working culture that values work–life balance and hybrid working arrangements.

This is an opportunity to use your leadership and technical expertise to make a genuine difference — helping an organisation harness the power of data to improve lives and outcomes across the UK.
