We are looking for a Head of Data Technology to join our client's Technology leadership team. You will be leading a team of data professionals who are supporting the data community, data governance and the framework around it. Reporting into the CTO, you will be responsible for leading and managing two teams whilst growing that to 4 or 5. Those teams are split between data engineering/Snowflake platform as well as the data management team who run the governance frameworks, the quality frameworks, supporting the community. Headcount is circa 20 across these existing teams.
Operational leadership in terms of running Data platforms and ensuring change is delivered through those platforms in the right way. There is a large amount of change in the organization, and it will be your responsibility to manage the change hitting the data platform, and the analytics and data science platform. Leading a team of data professionals who are supporting the data community, data governance and the framework around it.
Priority projects will include continuing the transformation from legacy platforms to Salesforce transforming data structures. This is a critical organizational change across the teams. The engineering team are doing a lot of this lifting. As well as leading these in-flight projects, there will be additional responsibility to scope additional data platforms and sources, and to support the research arm of the organization with their data ambitions. This role is critical to enable the maturity of the organization to grow, getting the platforms in place to introduce AI.
Ideal career trajectory: starting life as a data engineer, worked on a platform, moving into a governance role, then into an operational role working out how you can get more out of data in a Head of position all at enterprise scale. Someone who can help transform the current teams. Helping people understand how they operate in a more mature environment around data.
Further detail on what we are looking for:
- Proven track record of building, leading and developing cross-functional teams to drive value from data in large complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of data management principles and practices, data engineering and modelling, and analytics and insight delivery and their ability to enable organisational value.
- Significant experience in creating and embedding new systems and processes which support improved fact-based decision making, digital marketing and operational engagement.
- Proven full-lifecycle experience across full-suite data landscapes which may include data warehouse and data lakehouse solutions (e.g. Snowflake), associated data ingestion, migration and management components, data visualisation tools, machine learning and AI applications in data management, and MDM, CRM and enterprise applications such as Salesforce.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based and on-premise system architectures, incorporating modern cloud-based as well as legacy components.
- Demonstrates strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Highly developed people skills, with extensive experience of building inclusive environments, ability to coach and support development of data skills in various capabilities, including working with and delivering outcomes through third parties.
- Able to build networks and relationships internally and externally, acting as a trusted technical support to key stakeholders across the charity, with ability to create momentum, balance short & long-term focus, and provide challenge whilst maintaining trusted relationship.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, valuing challenge and ideas and learning from experimentation.
