Help Shape the Future of Education Publishing
SR2 is proud to be partnering with a global EdTech organisation that's helping many of the world's leading education publishers, universities and learning providers transform the way digital education is delivered. For more than 25 years, our client has developed innovative technology solutions that power digital learning platforms, assessment, accessibility, AI-enabled learning and content transformation for organisations across the globe. As investment in digital publishing, AI and accessibility continues to accelerate, they're looking to appoint a commercial leader to drive growth across the UK and European publishing markets.
This opportunity is ideal for an established Sales Director, but we're equally keen to hear from ambitious Sales Managers or Heads of Sales who are ready to take the next step into a Director-level position. What matters most is your experience within education publishing or EdTech and your ability to build trusted enterprise relationships.
The Opportunity
This is a senior individual contributor role offering significant autonomy and strategic influence. You'll take ownership of a dedicated portfolio of publisher accounts across the UK and Europe, identifying new opportunities while developing existing strategic relationships. Working closely with international presales, product and delivery teams, you'll lead complex consultative sales engagements from initial discovery through to commercial negotiation and contract award. This is not a people management role. Instead, you'll become the commercial lead for the publishing vertical, helping shape go-to-market strategy whilst building long-term partnerships with some of the sector's most recognised organisations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop new business opportunities across UK and European education publishers.
- Build strategic relationships with senior stakeholders including CTOs, Chief Product Officers, Heads of Digital, Publishing Directors and commercial leaders.
- Lead complex consultative sales cycles from discovery through to contract signature.
- Grow existing strategic publisher accounts through account planning, cross-selling and long-term partnership development.
- Position solutions around digital publishing, accessibility, assessment, AI and platform modernisation.
- Work collaboratively with international presales and delivery teams to develop commercially compelling proposals.
- Represent the business at leading publishing and EdTech events across the UK and Europe.
- Share market insight and customer feedback to help shape future products and commercial strategy.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for experienced commercial professionals who understand the education publishing landscape and have successfully sold technology, digital solutions or professional services into this market. Whether you're already operating as a Sales Director, or you're an experienced Sales Manager or Head of Sales looking to step into a broader strategic role, we'd love to hear from you. You'll ideally bring:
- Experience selling into education publishers.
- Strong knowledge of academic publishing, higher education, schools and/or assessment markets.
- A proven track record of winning new enterprise business while growing strategic customer relationships.
- Experience leading complex consultative sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
- Confidence engaging executive-level commercial, technology and product leaders.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent presentation and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive approach to building pipeline and creating opportunities.
We'd also love to see:
- Existing relationships within the UK or European education publishing sector.
- Experience with digital publishing platforms, learning technologies, assessment or accessibility solutions.
- Knowledge of AI, digital transformation or accessibility legislation (EAA/WCAG).
- Experience working alongside international or offshore delivery teams.
- Additional European language skills.
Why Join?
- £95,000 basic salary.
- Uncapped commission structure.
- Flexible UK home-based working.
- International travel opportunities.
- Significant autonomy and ownership of a strategic market.
- Opportunity to work with globally recognised education publishers.
- The chance to shape the future commercial growth of a market-leading EdTech organisation.
Whether you're already operating at Director level or you're ready to step up from Sales Manager or Head of Sales, this is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-growth market and play a pivotal role in the future of digital education.
