SR2 are partnering with a major technology consultancy supporting critical MOD and defence transformation programmes across highly secure environments. This is a hands-on platform engineering opportunity working across cloud and on-prem environments, helping deliver large-scale MOD platform and data capabilities.
Location: London (West London MOD site near Hounslow) or Corsham MOD site
Travel: Expected onsite presence 4-5 days per week
Salary: Corsham / Outside London: £70,000-£75,000+ London: £75,000-£85,000+
Additional: £500/month DV bonus
Clearance: Active MOD-held DV required
Interview Process: Single-stage 90-minute interview including practical Platform/DevOps exercise
This role sits within a rapidly growing defence technology function supporting MOD digital and data programmes, including cloud and platform transformation work.
Key environment and project themes include:
- AWS cloud platform engineering
- On-prem to AWS migration programmes
- CI/CD pipeline engineering
- Kubernetes and container platforms
- Prometheus & Grafana monitoring
- Infrastructure automation and scripting
- Secure MOD cloud environments
- Defence Data Analytics Platform (DDAP) related work
The team are looking for engineers who are genuinely platform-focused rather than traditional infrastructure engineers.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Strong Platform or DevOps engineering background
- AWS experience (Azure acceptable if AWS exposure exists)
- CI/CD pipeline build experience
- Kubernetes, observability and automation exposure
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
- Mentorship or informal leadership experience
- Experience within MOD, defence or national security environments
