We're working with a growing fintech business in Bristol that is looking for a Data Analyst to join a newly developing team working on innovative AI products.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, investigating problems and getting into the detail behind why something isn't working as expected. You'll be applying your analytical skills in an AI-focused environment, reviewing outputs, identifying patterns and inconsistencies, and working with engineers to improve the quality and reliability of the data and systems behind the product.

The role would suit someone early in their career who has a strong analytical background and is genuinely interested in AI. You don't need extensive commercial AI experience. What's most important is that you're curious, methodical and naturally analytical, with a real eye for detail and the confidence to question results and investigate when something doesn't look right.

What you'll be doing...

  • Analysing and reviewing large volumes of data and AI-generated outputs
  • Identifying errors, inconsistencies, anomalies and edge cases within outputs
  • Investigating why outputs are incorrect and working to understand the root cause
  • Testing outputs across different scenarios to assess accuracy and consistency
  • Reviewing and improving data definitions and extraction logic
  • Writing and refining prompts to improve the quality of AI-generated outputs
  • Applying structured evaluation criteria to assess results and provide clear feedback
  • Identifying trends and recurring issues through detailed analysis
  • Working closely with software engineers and data specialists to investigate problems and improve the product
  • Helping to develop processes and frameworks for evaluating data and AI outputs
  • Clearly documenting findings and communicating insights to the wider team
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve the accuracy, quality and reliability of the product

What we're looking for...

  • Some experience working with data, whether professionally, academically or through personal projects
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to analysing information
  • The ability to spot patterns, inconsistencies and anomalies in data
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a natural curiosity to understand why something has happened
  • An interest in AI, machine learning or large language models
  • The ability to work through complex information and draw clear, logical conclusions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with technical teams and learning from experienced engineers
  • A willingness to learn and develop your technical skills in a fast-moving environment

Why this role?

You'll be joining a growing team at an exciting point in its development, working on real-world AI products alongside experienced technical professionals. The role offers the chance to build strong foundations in data analysis while gaining hands-on exposure to areas such as LLMs, prompt engineering, AI evaluation and data quality.

It's a great opportunity for someone who wants to start or develop their career in data and is interested in exploring how analytical skills can be applied to the rapidly evolving world of AI.

Location: Bristol, hybrid working with around 2 days per week in the office.
