Principal Modelling & Simulation Engineer - Hybrid (Bristol)

We're looking for a Principal Modelling & Simulation Engineer to take a leading technical role across complex defence and engineering programmes.

This is a senior, hands‑on position combining advanced MATLAB/Simulink modelling with technical leadership.

You'll lead modelling activities across complex dynamic systems, define technical approaches and verification strategies, and provide guidance to other engineers while retaining ownership of key technical deliverables.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong MATLAB / Simulink modelling and simulation experience
  • Proven experience developing models of complex dynamic systems
  • Strong understanding of control systems and system performance modelling
  • Vehicle dynamics and/or multi-domain simulation experience
  • Ability to define modelling approaches, requirements, and verification strategies
  • Experience leading technical work packages or engineering activities
  • Comfortable mentoring engineers and providing technical direction
  • Strong customer and stakeholder communication skills

Desirable

  • Advanced control techniques including Kalman filtering or state estimation
  • Real-time modelling and simulation
  • MATLAB auto-code generation
  • C/C++ experience
  • Aerospace, defence, marine, robotics, or automotive experience
  • Flight controls or autonomous systems experience
