We are working on a major public sector programme, seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead testing across a high-profile geospatial service as it progresses through private and public beta phases. This is a critical role in a complex, data-heavy environment, requiring strong leadership, coordination across multiple teams, and ownership of the full test lifecycle.
The Role
You will own the end-to-end test strategy and delivery for a multi-platform geospatial service, ensuring readiness for both private and public beta. Working across the department and its ALBs, you will lead testing activity, manage a small team, and coordinate multiple delivery partners to ensure high-quality outputs in a data-centric environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the test strategy across private and public beta phases
- Define test scope, environments, data, governance, and reporting
- Coordinate functional, integration, E2E, UAT, operational readiness, and non-functional testing
- Set clear entry/exit criteria aligned to programme and department standards
- Manage defect triage, prioritisation, and resolution across teams
- Coordinate testing across multiple platforms, teams, and partners
- Support service acceptance and live readiness criteria
- Ensure testing covers the full service including operating model, onboarding, and training
- Engage with third-party test providers (e.g. Pen Testing specialists)
- Lead and mentor a small team of testers
Essential
- Proven experience as a Test Manager within complex, multi-team delivery environments
- Strong experience defining and delivering end-to-end test strategies
- Experience across functional, integration, E2E, UAT, operational readiness, and non-functional testing
- Strong background in test environments, data management, and defect tracking
- Experience producing test reporting for governance and senior stakeholders
- Agile / Scrum delivery experience
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, and test management tools
- Experience with API testing, accessibility testing, and modern test tooling
- Experience leading or mentoring testers
Desirable
- Experience working within government or regulated environments
- Familiarity with geospatial platforms at scale
