A UK bank is undertaking a major payments transformation, simplifying a complex and fragmented estate toward a modern, harmonised target state. This role helps drive the vendor selection and pins down what the bank actually needs.

You will work alongside the Payments Architect and the bank's team to determine the right architectural option for the target payments estate and land on the right vendor solution. Where the Architect owns the design, you own running the selection and defining the requirements that sit under it.

Expect to own:

  • Organising and managing the vendor reviews and assessments end to end
  • Producing high-level requirements for the target payments estate
  • High-level transition-state definition from the current fragmented estate to the target
  • Execution planning for the selection and onward delivery

What we are looking for:

  • Deep hands-on experience with modern payments solutions, engines and hubs
  • A track record running or managing vendor selection and assessment processes, ideally in payments or banking
  • Strong requirements definition, able to translate a complex multi-platform estate into clear, high-level requirements
  • Comfort operating across a fragmented landscape of multiple core platforms, payments engines and external processors
  • The organisation and rigour to keep a structured selection process moving alongside architecture and bank stakeholders

This sits on a wider payments programme with a Payments Architect owning the technical design. If your strength is owning the architecture and integration patterns rather than running the selection, flag that and we can point you to the right seat.

Detail: Six months initial, hybrid with time on-site in London. Outside IR35 (status pending final confirmation). Day rate on application.
