A UK bank is undertaking a major payments transformation, simplifying a complex and fragmented estate toward a modern, harmonised target state. This role owns the architecture that gets them there.
You will act as the technical design authority for the target payments estate. Working alongside the bank's team, you will determine the right architectural option for the future state and shape the vendor selection from a technical-fit standpoint.
Expect to own:
- Architectural options and integration patterns for the target payments estate
- High-level design for the harmonised payments hub across a multi-core landscape
- Technical review and assessment of candidate vendor platforms
- High-level transition-state definition from the current fragmented estate to the target
- Input into execution planning
What we are looking for:
- Strong payments and banking architecture experience, with a track record of shaping payments platforms end to end
- Genuine depth on payments hubs and engines, and the integration challenge of harmonising across multiple core banking platforms and external processors
- Experience architecting on modern cloud-based stacks
- Hands-on involvement in vendor selection or platform assessment for payments
- The credibility to operate as the architectural authority alongside a bank's own team and senior stakeholders
This sits on a wider payments programme with a Payments Technical Expert working alongside the architecture. If your strength is running vendor selection and defining requirements rather than owning the architecture, flag that and we can point you to the right seat.
