We're supporting a major public sector digital transformation programme looking to bring in an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to help deliver secure, scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure across a complex enterprise environment. This role would suit someone who enjoys working across modern Azure platforms, automation, CI/CD and containerised workloads, whilst collaborating closely with engineering, architecture and security teams to improve platform reliability and delivery capability.
The Role
You'll be responsible for building, improving and maintaining Azure cloud infrastructure and DevOps tooling across a large-scale environment. The position will involve a strong focus on automation, infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines and operational resilience. You'll work closely with software engineers and technical architects to support cloud-native services, improve deployment practices and help drive engineering best practice across the programme.
Key responsibilities:
- Designing and maintaining Azure cloud infrastructure
- Building and improving CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep
- Supporting containerised environments using Kubernetes and Docker
- Implementing monitoring, logging and alerting solutions
- Working closely with security teams to ensure cloud environments meet compliance and governance standards
- Supporting platform reliability, scalability and disaster recovery capability
- Driving automation and continuous improvement across engineering processes
Essential
- Strong experience working within Microsoft Azure cloud environments
- Commercial experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline implementation
- Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates
- Experience managing container platforms such as Kubernetes (AKS preferred)
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash or Python
- Experience with monitoring and observability tooling such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana or Prometheus
- Understanding of networking, security and identity within Azure environments
- Experience working within complex enterprise or public sector-style environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- Experience working within secure or regulated environments
- Exposure to microservices and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with policy enforcement and governance tooling
- Previous experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes
