SR2 is supporting a leading consultancy delivering major public sector transformation and commercial programmes, and we are looking for a Managing Consultant to join their growing public services practice. This is a senior opportunity for someone with a strong consulting background in complex public sector procurement and commercial strategy, ideally within central government, arm’s-length bodies, or similarly regulated environments.
You will act as a trusted adviser to senior clients, shaping and delivering high-value, high-profile procurements from early strategy through to mobilisation. These engagements are typically complex, strategic and technology-enabled, covering the full commercial lifecycle from business case and market engagement through to evaluation, negotiation, contract award and implementation support.
Key Responsibilities- Lead complex public sector procurement and commercial programmes from strategy through to mobilisation
- Shape sourcing approaches, commercial models and transaction strategies for government clients
- Support clients across the full commercial lifecycle, including business case development, market engagement, ITT design, evaluation and negotiation
- Provide insight and challenge on commercial, contractual, sourcing and supplier management issues
- Solve problems spanning commercial, operational, delivery and policy considerations
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders including SROs, commercial leads, programme directors, legal teams and suppliers
- Design evaluation models, incentives and performance frameworks that support value for money and delivery outcomes
- Contribute to proposition development, practice growth and wider team capability
- Strong consulting experience delivering complex public sector transactions under UK public procurement regulations
- Experience acting as a commercial adviser or business partner, not just running a procurement process
- Track record delivering complex technology-focused or business-critical procurements
- End-to-end commercial lifecycle experience from strategy and business case through to implementation support
- Strong commercial judgement, analytical capability and value-for-money assessment skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in complex environments
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in politically or operationally sensitive settings is highly desirable
