We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer (Linux) to join our Support Organisation here at Squiz. You would come from either a technical support or deployments background. We’re seeking a proactive and enthusiastic problem solver to resolve complex technical issues whilst maintaining a good customer focus.

For this role, we ask that you can demonstrate:

  • 3-5 years of troubleshooting skills on Linux based systems
  • Autonomy in fault finding
  • Experience working in major or critical incidents

You should have a strong background in as many of the following technologies:

  • Linux (Preferably Fedora/EL flavours of Linux)
  • Revision/Configuration Control (SVN, Puppet4, Git/Gitlab)
  • Server Monitoring (Nagios, Grafana, Thousand Eyes)
  • Networking (DNS, Firewalls, Routing)

Nice to haves:

  • Cloud based deployments (AWS, Docker, Terraform, Cloudflare)

What you would do:

  • Solving technical problems our customers have with their existing systems
  • Building and installing new infrastructure, servers and machines, as well as maintenance of current infrastructure (vms servers (application & data), hosted systems, SAAS)
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of key projects
  • Working with the product team to migrate systems to SaaS
  • Maintaining servers in AWS
  • Suggesting and working on ways to improve our support environment

Note: Passing a Police check and/or security clearance may be required.

Location: Edinburgh (with ability to access the office 1-2 times per week). There is an expectation that successful candidates would be willing to work as part of an on-call rota.
