We are seeking a Data Privacy Lawyer to join our in‑house data protection compliance team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

The principal role of the In‑House Data Privacy Lawyer is to advise and support the Data Protection Officer and the Office of General Counsel on data protection (DP), cybersecurity and e‑privacy compliance across the global firm following UK and EU GDPR and other privacy regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Advising on issues arising under UK and EU GDPR, including complex international data transfers;
  • Supporting DP and security due diligence on third‑party vendors, including contract reviews and data protection impact assessments;
  • Providing pragmatic advice on HR‑related DP issues;
  • Advising on training and awareness programmes, building tools and resources to support good data governance;
  • Identifying and addressing privacy compliance gaps as part of the annual policy review cycle;
  • Supporting employees involved in DP compliance across all business functions and practice groups with practical guidance;
  • Working with the global privacy legal team to incorporate compliance requirements in other jurisdictions such as CCPA, China PIPL;
  • Participating in regular discussions with the global privacy legal team and the global privacy steering committee;
  • Providing advice on e‑privacy compliance in marketing areas;
  • Supporting the firm’s response to data‑subject requests and other DP‑related compliance initiatives.

Team:

The in‑house privacy team advises on all internal legal matters with primary responsibility for the UK and EU, increasingly on a global basis. The data protection, cybersecurity & digital assets practice group is recognised among the top legal practice groups.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor (1‑5 PQE) with experience advising on and managing data protection and privacy matters;
  • Strong commitment to a specialisation in data privacy;
  • Pro‑active, high‑quality work, strong people skills, commercial awareness and teamwork across all levels;
  • Experience in an in‑house privacy role or a reputable law firm.
