Finance Paralegal - Leeds

We're looking for an experienced law graduate or Paralegal who will enjoy working in a truly collaborative environment as part of our Finance team in Leeds.

Our Finance team in Leeds is a large team made up of the Financial Service Centre, Credit Control, Management Accounts and the Financial Planning and Analysis team. The wider team provide centralised support for all of our UK offices and take pride in providing a world class service to the firm's internal and external clients.

Based in Leeds and reporting to the FSC Compliance Coordinator, you will be responsible for proactively investigating and resolving residual client account balances as part of a collaborative team. By providing a forensic function you will maintain a centralised database, keeping regular up to date notes and ensuring balances are returned to clients promptly where we no longer have an underlying legal purpose to retain funds. You will also ensure the clients are notified at least once every 12 months where funds are retained in our client account, providing a world class service to the firm's internal and external clients whilst ensuring the firm remains compliant with SRA accounts rules. You will work closely with Partners and other fee earners to agree progress reports and maintain momentum in investigations, becoming a dependable advisor to the legal teams in regard to client money processes. The role will require the preparation and distribution of regular reports to Partners as well as a monthly report sent to the Director of Global Billing Operations to review progress. You will be confident in building relationships with the wider Finance team and you will work closely with the Cashiering team on payment and transfer instructions.

This role requires a detail orientated professional with knowledge of the legal industry and the confidence to proactively make recommendations on existing processes and structures. You will become familiar with SRA accounts rules and be able to identify, mitigate and record potential breaches.

To be considered for this position you must have excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work with detailed information whilst keeping sight of the bigger picture. You will have the drive to focus on a number of interrelated tasks whilst meeting deadlines. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with colleagues of all levels within the firm, as well as externally. You will be able to handle sensitive matters confidentially and professionally. Travel to other UK offices will be required. You will preferably be a law graduate or have completed your CILEx Level 3 qualification or equivalent. Experience in a Real Estate Paralegal role and knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules would be an advantage but not essential. You will have a good working knowledge in Microsoft Excel. Ideally with experience of accounting and billing systems (e.g. Aderant Expert) and a document management system (e.g. iManage), you will be able to adapt to new systems with ease.
