We’re looking for a Technical Designer to join our team and help shape gameplay systems and mission logic from the ground up. You’ll work closely with designers, programmers, and artists to prototype, implement, and refine interactive systems that tie together story, gameplay, and world simulation. As one of our first design hires, you’ll have the opportunity to define tools, workflows, and best practices that will support the project’s development as it grows.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement gameplay systems, mission logic, and interactive sequences in Unreal Engine 5.
- Prototype and iterate on mechanics such as traversal, combat, AI behaviours, and environmental interaction.
- Work closely with programmers to create efficient, flexible Blueprint- or C++-based solutions.
- Optimise and debug gameplay features to ensure high performance across next-gen hardware.
- Collaborate with artists and animators to ensure smooth integration of visual and gameplay elements.
- Help develop internal tools and workflows to streamline content creation for a small, agile team.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer, Gameplay Designer, or Scripter in Unreal Engine (personal or professional projects considered).
- Strong understanding of Blueprint scripting, level scripting, and gameplay systems.
- A solid grasp of game logic, player feedback, and mechanical balance.
- Familiarity with Unreal’s Sequencer, AI systems, or physics tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a small, flexible team environment.
Adventitious
- Experience with C++ or developing custom Blueprint nodes.
- Background in technical art, animation integration, or tools development.
- Experience working on open‑world or narrative‑driven titles.
