This role acts as a commercial owner and challenger to the business, partnering closely with the FP&A function to actively protect profitability, reduce losses, and strengthen commercial governance across the organisation. The expectation is a highly proactive, outcomes‑driven role. The FP&A Analytics Lead will independently drive analysis, challenge assumptions, influence senior decision‑making, and push for change, not simply report performance. A core part of the role is to deploy AI to materially improve financial outcomes, transforming how financial planning, forecasting, scenario analysis, and decision support are performed.

Role Requirements:

  • Own and drive commercial governance across the business, with a clear mandate to identify profit leakage, reduce losses, and improve margin performance, in partnership with the FP&A team.
  • Act as an independent commercial conscience, challenging assumptions, escalating risks early, and holding the organization to account on financial outcomes.
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery of AI use cases that modernise FP&A workflows, from concept through to live, scalable production.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a senior analytics finance professional with a strong commercial mindset, AI expertise and a passion for transforming how finance drives decision‑making. The emphasis is on applied AI in FP&A, focused on forecasting accuracy, scenario analysis, loss and margin visibility, and stronger commercial control.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Commercial Ownership & Governance: Own end‑to‑end commercial insight across the business, with a clear focus on margin protection, loss reduction, and sustainable profit growth.
  • Lead proactive analysis of forecast variances, downside risks, and emerging loss drivers, surfacing issues early and driving corrective action.
  • Embed strong commercial controls into forecasting, scenario planning, and decision‑making processes.
  • Actively influence and challenge stakeholders using evidence‑based insight, not retrospective reporting.

Delivery & AI Enablement:

  • Design, build, and deploy AI solutions into production using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Apply AI to augment, automate, and scale FP&A workflows, insight generation, and decision support.

Core Technology Stack:

  • Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong SQL skills for investigation and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Python.
  • Power BI and/or Tableau development and support.
  • Experience with dbt (data build tool).
  • Ability to investigate and resolve data issues end‑to‑end.

What Success Looks Like:

Within 12 months, this role will have:

  • Materially improved forecasting accuracy.
  • Strengthened visibility and control over profit margins and losses.
  • Proactive identification and mitigation of risks to prevent profit and cost shocks.
  • Embedded AI‑driven FP&A capabilities that actively inform commercial decisions across the EU business.
  • Shifted FP&A towards a continuous, insight‑led, and control‑oriented function.

Qualifications:

What we are looking for in an ideal candidate:

  • Intellectually curious and detail‑oriented: You’re passionate about asking questions, quickly ramping up, and remaining agile as you receive feedback from business owners.
  • Analytical: You’re happy working with numbers and in large sets of data to draw out insight to support and influence operational decision making.
  • Meticulous: details, details, details…you thrive when living in the weeds and are constantly scouring for trends and aberrations.
  • Ambitious: You’ll go above and beyond to get results (and you’re able to motivate others to do the same!).
  • You’ll get your hands dirty: You're not afraid to jump into confusing messy situations. You love being the go-to person for getting things done.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. We prefer Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or other quantitative background, but can consider strong candidates from other disciplines as well.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with numbers and data analysis to come up with business insights and recommendations.

Additional Information:

This role is based in market but will require significant internal travel to partner locations along with monthly international travel to SquareTrade HQ in London.
