We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to take on the role of Communications Manager and join the Travelling Light team. The Communications Manager will lead on Travelling Light’s communications, marketing and campaign management, and effectively tell the story of Travelling Light’s work and share our charitable aims, activities and impact, helping to develop our audiences, raise the company profile and attract investment.
Context of the role: Travelling Light has an exciting year ahead with a busy programme including our youth theatre groups and community activities in Barton Hill, the final year of our Light Up Language project in schools and early years settings, and Wonder Baby, a new piece of theatre for early years. We are looking for a Communications Manager to promote our activity and tell the story of our work and its impact, as well as reporting to funders and stakeholders and managing at least one annual individual giving campaign.
Travelling Light is in the final year of a 3-year business plan, with several multi-year grants finishing in 2027-28. We are currently re-applying for funds to support our work. The role is funded for one year and then will be reviewed with the hope to continue the role if further funding is secured.
Hours: 15 hours per week (generally to be worked over 2 days). Travelling Light supports flexible/remote working but we expect team members to be able to work from the office on our contact day which is Wednesday.
Contract: This is a PAYE contract. Approaches from freelancers will also be considered (if you wish to apply in a freelance capacity, please address this in your personal statement). The role is funded for one year, with the hope to continue if further funding is secured.
