Position Overview:

  • Support end to end of preparation of necessary returns prepared by third party providers (eg VAT, GST, sales tax, EU sales lists etc) to ensure compliance with reporting and collection obligations in all jurisdictions.
  • Perform GL reconciliation and resolve discrepancies.
  • Improve current systems used for indirect tax reporting to reduce the time spent on return preparation, strengthen controls and ensure readiness for future developments (eg e-invoicing and real time digital reporting).
  • Work with our Corporate IT Applications Team to build systems across the group to support reporting in connection to commodities trading, new instruments or entry to new geographical markets.
  • Work with local advisors where appropriate to provide tax advice on miscellaneous matters.
  • Assist with the provision advisory services to front office colleagues trading commodities and other assets so they understand the commercial impact and compliance requirements of all taxes in the supply chain across multiple jurisdictions (eg customs duties, import VAT, VAT/GST and sales taxes and withholding taxes).
  • Ensure contracts adequately deal with these taxes to minimize risk to the firm.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of relevant tax experience within a Professional Services firm and experience of working in an in-house tax team.
  • Knowledge of Workday or Commodities preferred.
  • Relevant recognized qualification (ACA, CTA, or equivalent).
  • Detail oriented and strong technical proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Process improvement focused.
  • Ability to multi-task as well as meet deadlines.
