Square Peg Associates are delighted to be working in partnership with an established, reputable and busy manufacturing business based near Accrington, who are looking to recruit an experienced and motivational Assembly Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assembly Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager to take responsibility for a number of small, skilled Assembly Teams, including their Team Leaders, within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be a strong people leader who can create a positive, accountable and safety-focused team culture, while ensuring customer requirements, quality standards and production deadlines are consistently achieved.

The Role

  • As Assembly Manager, you will have day-to-day responsibility for the performance and coordination of your designated assembly area.
  • You will work closely with Team Leaders and other departments to ensure the department operates safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Managing and supporting a number of Assembly Teams and Team Leaders, providing clear direction, leadership and day-to-day guidance.
  • Ensuring production plans and agreed completion dates are achieved, identifying and addressing potential delays at an early stage.
  • Coaching, motivating and developing Team Leaders and assembly colleagues to maximise performance and engagement.
  • Maintaining a strong health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring safe systems of work and company procedures are understood and followed.
  • Ensuring products are assembled to the required quality standards and that relevant working instructions, processes and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for assembly-related production issues, taking ownership of problems and working with the relevant teams to find effective solutions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the assembly area.
  • Ensuring team members are fully aware of completion dates, workflow requirements, quality expectations, departmental procedures and safe working practices.
  • Planning and coordinating resources within the assembly area to ensure capacity is aligned with production requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and workplace standards.
  • Communicating effectively with other internal departments.

About You

  • The successful applicant will be an experienced manufacturing professional with strong assembly knowledge and proven leadership capability.
  • Previous experience in Assembly Supervision, Team Leading or Management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Experience using MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
