We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a TCRA Reporting Lead to join their team for an initial 2 or 3 month contract.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

You will be responsible for developing, modifying and running reports on product and engineering data stored within a Teamcenter database and providing the report to enable decisions on data migration activities.

The resource skill we need is someone who has Teamcenter Reporting and Analytics (TcRA) knowledge

Job Description:

Data Profiling
To use TCRA to run reports on the data to understand the gap between the TC12 and TC2412 data models, which will be used for the migration of the data. We will define the TC2412 data model and produce the data mapping templates required to map the legacy TC12 and/or other partner systems to the new TC2412 model.

Use TCRA generate an assessment of the data either by utilising existing reporting capability or generating a new report. This will be run against the existing Teamcenter 12 data. The below is not exhaustive and will be refined but gives an indicative understanding.

Profiling Configuration within TCRA:

  • Data Selection: Specify the tables or files within the source databases that need to be profiled. This might involve using selection criteria to include or exclude specific data subsets.
  • Profiling Rules: Define the profiling rules to be applied. This includes specifying the types of analysis to be performed, such as:
  • Data Type Detection: Automatically identify the data type of each column (e.g., integer, string, date).
  • Data Quality Checks: Identify potential data quality issues, such as null values, duplicates, inconsistencies, and outliers.
  • Data Distribution Analysis: Analyse the distribution of values within each column (e.g., histograms, frequency counts).
  • Data Volume Estimation: Estimate the size and volume of the data to be migrated.
  • Data Lineage Tracking (If applicable): Track the origin and transformation of data elements throughout the migration process.
  • Custom Rules (Optional): May be need for the creation of custom profiling rules to address specific data characteristics or business requirements.

Execution and Review of Profiling Results:

  • Run the Profiling Job: Execute the profiling job within TCRA. This will analyse the selected data according to the defined rules.
  • Review and Analysis: Review the generated profiling reports. These reports should provide insights into the object type, linked objects, status, data quality, volume and structure (list is an example and not complete). Identify any potential data issues or inconsistencies that need to be addressed before the ETL process.
  • Data Cleansing/Transformation Plan: Based on the profiling results, develop a plan for data cleansing and transformation to address any identified issues. This might involve data validation, data scrubbing, or data enrichment.

Post Migration – Execution and Review of Profiling Results:

  • Run the Profiling Job: Execute the profiling job within TCRA. This will analyse the migrated data according to the defined rules.
  • Review and Analysis: Review the generated profiling reports. These reports should provide insights into the data quality, volume, structure and comparison of the pre and post migration to identify any potential data issues or inconsistencies.
