We are currently recruiting for an experienced virtualisation engineer to join our global client in the financial services.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
The Virtualisation Engineer will design, implement, and manage virtualisation technologies and environments to optimise IT infrastructure and resource utilisation. This role involves configuring and maintaining virtual machines, managing hypervisors, and ensuring the efficient operation of virtualised environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage virtualisation solutions, including virtual machines, hypervisors, and HCI platforms.
- Monitor and optimize the performance, capacity, and efficiency of virtualized environments.
- Implement and maintain virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM, Nutanix, and OpenShift.
- Build and rebuild VMware ESX cluster environments globally using automation solutions to meet business requirements.
- Quickly learn and implement VMware technology products and solutions, applying automation techniques effectively.
- Plan and execute ESX hardware evergreening activities in complex VMware environments, including vendor management and coordination with data centre teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualisation infrastructure, including performance, connectivity, and failover problems.
- Develop and implement backup, disaster recovery, and security strategies for virtualised environments.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate virtualisation solutions with existing systems and applications.
- Stay updated on virtualization technologies, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
- Apply change management practices to raise and implement quality changes effectively.
Technical Skills & Expertise
- Solution design, performance tuning, and disaster recovery implementation.
- Deep expertise in core virtualization platforms and storage solutions.
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms and management tools, including VMware vSphere/vCenter, Hyper‑V, and HCI platforms.
- Strong understanding of storage concepts and virtual networking.
- Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or similar tools.
- VMware PowerCLI experience.
- Configuration and management of HA & DRS clusters, failover, and RDM (including clustered VM guests).
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing virtualized environments for performance and resource efficiency.
- Experience migrating VMs between multiple storage arrays.
- Coordination with hardware and storage teams to diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues.
