Square Enix Europe is looking for an experienced Interpreter/Translator to join the FINAL FANTASY XIV team at the London office who will be assisting on communications and correspondences between offices, third parties, development team and the community.
Key Deliverables:
- Provide Japanese-English bilingual communications support with accurate translations and interpretations from Japanese to English and vice versa while working with the FINAL FANTASY XIV Community, Marketing and PR teams to ensure tasked projects progress in a smooth and timely manner.
- Interpretation assignments include, but are not limited to, internal/external meetings, conference calls, press conferences, developer interviews, panel discussions and live streams.
- Translation assignments include, but are not limited to, emails, meeting agendas, notes, product evaluations, marketing materials, and PR materials.
- Work as a trusted liaison for all regions, providing cultural insight to help teams gain a better understanding for regional strategic differences.
- Support preproduction and onsite operations for events including trade shows, consumer shows, streaming programs, and media events.
- Assist in creating and maintaining schedules, meetings and calendar events.
- Assist with keeping internal tracking documents and communications up to date.
- Other related duties as required.

Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Native English and native-level Japanese speaking/writing skills
- Previous experience as an interpreter as well as a translator
- Basic knowledge about games and marketing in general
- Understanding of Western and Japanese cultures
Desirable:
- Active participation in online gaming communities
- Experience playing FINAL FANTASY XIV and/or other MMORPG titles
- Translation experience gained within the games industry or technical field

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written skills)
- Team player with a professional and positive attitude
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient computer/IT skills
- Accurate understanding about English and Japanese grammar
- Familiar with MS Office applications, especially Excel/PowerPoint

- Previous experience of working with CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools
