Job Overview/Introduction
The Head of Software Engineering will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Squarcle’s software engineering organisation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative technology solutions. This individual will drive the company’s engineering strategy, foster a culture of technical excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Primary Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing software engineering team.
- Develop and execute the technology roadmap to align with Squarcle’s strategic goals and product road map.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable cloud-based software solutions.
- Work with partners to OEM third party technology solutions to ensure “best in class” solutions for non-core features and capabilities.
- Champion best practices in agile development, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.
- Work closely with Product teams to drive customer-centric development.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain Squarcle’s competitive edge.
- Oversee engineering budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards, coding guidelines, and system architecture best practices.
- Lead technical due diligence and integration efforts for potential mergers and acquisitions.
Secondary Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist with the Squarcle recruitment and retention activities.
- Support the development of Squarcle policies and processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Essential
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Proven track record of leading cloud-based SaaS development teams.
- Expertise in modern software architecture, microservices, and cloud platforms (ideally Azure).
- Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Desirable
- Understanding of supply chain analytics (would be an advantage).
- SC clearance.
This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for.
