Overview

Join to apply for the Junior Consultant (Graduate Scheme) role at Squarcle. As a Junior Consultant (Graduate), you’ll help clients make smarter, more sustainable procurement decisions. Public sector procurement is becoming increasingly complex, and your work will ensure public funds are spent effectively, compliantly, and with maximum value. You’ll also gain exposure to innovative AI and data-driven tools that are transforming how procurement is delivered.

Our structure

At Squarcle, we work in a matrix structure designed to support your growth and success. You’ll have a Performance Manager to guide your career development, an Engagement Manager to support your day-to-day project work, and a Capability Lead to ensure best practice across tools, people, and processes. This role sits within our Procurement Capability, where you’ll work closely with Andrew, our Head of Procurement, and report into one of our Engagement Directors. Your Performance Manager and project assignment will be confirmed once your first engagement is agreed.

Our Graduate Programme

As part of your first year, you’ll join Squarcle’s 12-month Graduate Programme – designed to accelerate your development and build your consulting foundation. You’ll benefit from:

  • Tailored workshops on consulting, procurement, and digital delivery
  • On-the-job training through live client projects
  • Learning and development support from experienced consultants and mentors
  • Structured feedback and career coaching to help you progress confidently into a Consultant role
  • Please note: you must be available to start work in December 2025

This is what you’ll be doing

As a Junior Consultant, you’ll learn how to deliver impactful work from day one. Some of your key day-to-day activities will include:

  • Supporting stakeholder engagement and helping ensure the right voices are heard
  • Preparing for and contributing to client workshops where problems are explored and solutions take shape
  • Carrying out analysis and turning it into clear, well-structured outputs
  • Assisting in drafting options appraisals that help clients make confident decisions
  • Supporting the creation of commercial tools, models, and artefacts that add real value
  • Contributing to briefings and advice, learning how to balance support with challenge

We’ll continue develop and measure your success in the following areas

Each engagement will have a set of deliverables which you will be responsible for. We’ll measure your success in the following areas:

  • You deliver outputs that are consistently high quality, accurate, and insightful
  • You show a genuine drive to learn and continuously improve your craft as a consultant
  • You demonstrate professionalism in every interaction, earning trust from clients and colleagues
  • You communicate clearly and effectively - tailoring your style to your audience and making complex ideas easy to understand

Where you’ll be stretched (and thrive)

  • Consulting at pace: you’ll be challenged to balance analysis with action, adapting your approach to different clients and contexts
  • Working through ambiguity: not every brief will be neatly defined, and success will come from creating clarity where none exists
  • Stakeholder management: you’ll need to quickly build trust, influence decisions, and bring diverse voices together around a common goal

We think you’ll love

  • Join a rapidly growing team: your impact will be visible and your ideas can shape how we grow
  • Real opportunities to progress: as the team scales, so will your career
  • Help clients deliver some of the most complex procurements in the country: making a tangible difference on projects that matter

This isn’t just another graduate scheme – it’s a launchpad for a meaningful career in consulting.

The skills you’ll need to succeed in this role

  • A strong academic background (minimum 2:1 or equivalent preferred)
  • A keen interest in public sector procurement and how government spends effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative mindset and desire to continuously learn

Some experience through internships, placements, or part-time work in procurement, commercial, or data-driven roles would be an advantage, but not essential.

How we’ll assess your skills

Our assessment process for this role will involve two steps:

Step 1: Your CV will be assessed against the requirements for the role. Make sure you have drawn upon your relevant experience, skills and knowledge within your CV.

Step 2: Attend an Assessment Day at our Bristol office on Queen Charlotte Street, where you will deliver a short presentation, take part in a group exercise, and have the opportunity to meet members of our team.

Remember, interviews are a two-way street. While we’re getting to know your fit for the role, take the time to ask questions too—so you can see if we’re the right place for the next step in your career.
