Job Overview / Introduction

As a manager you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic guidance and expertise to clients across various industries. You will be responsible for leading a team of consultants, delivering large, complex client engagements that identify, design, and implement creative optimisation and transformation solutions. With your extensive experience, you will contribute to business development efforts, be responsible for leading teams, mentoring managers and junior consultants, and driving the growth and success of the consulting practice. Working with the managers across individual programmes the senior manager is the engagement lead responsible for developing lasting relationships.

Primary Roles And Responsibilities

  • Squarcle Management Responsibilities
    • Support the internal staffing processes including performance management of assigned individuals.
    • Encourage effective working in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
    • Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for performance appraisees.
    • Lead, coach and mentor team members.
    • Monitor compliance of Squarcle policies and processes, ensuring engagements are delivered in accordance with the four phases of an engagement lifecycle; Sales, Mobilisation, Execution and Closure practice as stipulated within the Engagement Governance Process.
  • Client Engagement and Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior clients, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring buy‑in for case for change and delivery approach.
    • Understand client business objectives, challenges, and industry trends.
    • Collaborate with clients to identify areas for improvement and develop innovative solutions.
    • Ensure high client satisfaction through effective communication and timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Engagement Management and Execution
    • Lead PMOs in engagements from initiation to completion, including planning, budgeting, mobilisation, deliverable design, content development, risk management/escalation, ensuring successful project delivery and closure.
    • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with the client and consulting team.
    • Develop P3M plans, allocate resources, and manage delivery teams to ensure timelines are adhered to and outputs are delivered within budget constraints.
    • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to consultants, ensuring quality standards and processes of the client and Squarcle are followed, are consistent and in accordance with the Squarcle quality assurance process.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship
    • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of consultants, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
    • Mentor and develop junior consultants, assisting in their professional growth.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs.
    • Foster knowledge sharing and best practices within the consulting team.
  • Thought Leadership and Industry Expertise
    • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the consulting domain.
    • Participate in professional development activities, such as attending seminars or pursuing relevant certifications.
  • Capability Development
    • Track industry best practice and market demand in order to identify opportunities and capability development needs.
    • Identify and bid for enhancements to tools and methods.
    • Define competency standards for each grade and own the training pathways within their capability area.
    • Monitor quality concerns being raised from projects and own improvement actions (in coordination with Performance Managers).
    • Collate and track actions against lessons learned for their capability area.
    • Commit to continuous development by supporting the organisation of team events, training sessions and recruitment activities.

Secondary Roles And Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Squarcle recruitment and retention activities.
  • Support the development of Squarcle policies and processes.
  • Fulfil any additional responsibilities as outlined and agreed via PM or Head of Enterprise Digitisation & Change.

Essential

  • Degree level qualification.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working in a consulting environment.
  • Deep knowledge of delivering complex transformation, strategy or performance excellence programmes.
  • Strong programme delivery and management experience to include budgetary and resource oversight.
  • Extensive experience of managing a complex, decentralised matrix team.
  • A recognised project Management Qualification (Prince2, APM, Agile, Scrum etc).
  • Experience of managing and influencing executive level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in multi‑disciplinary environments.
  • Advanced communication, presentation and IT skills.
  • Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed to client sites.

DESIRABLE

  • Chartered Membership within a related field (e.g. logistics, procurement, supply chain).
  • An understanding of the Defence Support Chain or Construction Logistics.
  • Understanding of how advanced data analytics can be used within supply chain operations.
  • Management experience of an MRP/ERP system.
  • A qualification relevant to operational excellence (e.g. Lean Six Sigma).
