Your part in our mission

As public sector organisations increasingly shift their operations to the cloud, the need for secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure has never been more pressing. Your purpose is to help clients implement DevSecOps practices that ensure robust, compliant, and high-performing digital services – both in Squarcle-built solutions and within our clients\’ environments. From designing secure architectures to leading cloud deployments, your work will have real-world impact across vital public sector systems.

You’ll also help shape Squarcle’s internal infrastructure and security practices, contributing directly to how we deliver trusted and scalable technology services.

Our structure

At Squarcle, we work in a matrix structure designed to support your growth and success. You’ll have a Performance Manager to guide your career development, an Engagement Manager to support your day-to-day project work, and a Capability Lead to ensure best practice across tools, people, and processes. This role sits within our Digital Capability, where you’ll work closely with Kev, our Head of Technology Services, and Alex, our Digital Transformation MD. Your Performance Manager and project assignment will be confirmed once your first engagement is agreed.

This is what you’ll be doing

You’ll be joining us as we build momentum. This means there’s room for people to shape how we grow, not just keep up with it. We know people are the secret to our success and so the level of this role will come down to the successful candidate. You can expect:

  • Design and manage scalable, secure cloud environments using Azure Bicep, ARM, or Terraform
  • Lead the implementation of DevSecOps practices including CI/CD, secrets management, zero-trust security, and vulnerability management
  • Develop secure cloud-native architectures including microservices, containers, and serverless patterns
  • Ensure compliance with industry security and privacy standards (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR)
  • Secure containerised environments, including Kubernetes and Docker
  • Collaborate with developers to integrate secure deployment pipelines across the SDLC
  • Support deployments in client environments, including on-prem and multi-cloud
  • Continuously improve infrastructure processes for performance, reliability, and security

Where you’ll be stretched (and thrive):

  • We’re growing fast: That means there isn’t always a playbook. You’ll need to be proactive, resourceful, and ready to make things happen
  • We’re a multifaceted team: You’ll often wear multiple hats. Sometimes you’ll be doing work outside your job title – from rolling up your sleeves to supporting colleagues when priorities shift
  • Consulting isn’t always smooth sailing: Client needs evolve, projects pivot, and ambiguity is part of the job. You’ll need to be adaptable, calm under pressure, and comfortable navigating change

We think you’ll love

  • A culture that’s truly people-first: We’re big believers in autonomy, trust, and bringing your whole self to work. You’ll join a close-knit, collaborative team where everyone’s voice matters. No egos, no bureaucracy, just brilliant people doing meaningful work together
  • Work that matters: You’ll partner with strategic clients to secure and modernise digital infrastructure that underpins vital public services
  • Learn fast, grow faster: You won’t just deliver -you’ll develop. From hands-on engineering challenges and certifications to mentoring others and innovating our internal toolset, your growth is part of our strategy

Thisisn’t just another consulting role. It’s a chance to be part of something growing, ambitious, and meaningful.

The skillsyou’ll need to succeed in this role

  • Deep experience in Azure infrastructure (with IaC using Bicep, ARM, or Terraform)
  • Hands-on knowledge of DevSecOps tooling and techniques (CI/CD, secrets management, threat modelling)
  • Experience implementing security standards across cloud and hybrid environments
  • Familiarity with container security (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • A strong understanding of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and GDPR
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills

How we’ll assess your skills

Our interview process for this role will involve two steps:

Step 1: Meet with our Recruitment Manager, Corina. She’ll introduce you to Squarcle, the role, and answer any questions you may have about us. We’ll be assessing some basic skills for the role and finding out more about your background.

Step 2: Meet with our team. You\’ll meet with key stakeholders to tell us more about your skills and experience for the role.

What we offer

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s what you can expect as part of the team:

  • Generous leave package
    • 26 days of annual leave (including your birthday!) plus UK bank holidays — increasing to 27 days after three years, and 28 after seven years
    • You’ll also get five extra days for your five and 10 year anniversaries
    • Additional leave for members of the Reserve Forces and CFAV.
  • Private medical insurance
    • Provided once you’ve completed your probation.
  • Recognition and rewards
    • £1,000 referral bonus for successful hires
