The supply chain strategy and operations department is responsible for providing expert supply chain strategy and operational advice to clients operating in a fast-moving global environment. The team is made up of several subject matter experts who work for the Head of Consulting to deliver the client mandate. Working together but often independently, each consultant will be expected to work onsite and remotely, with the client on complex and exciting support chain challenges. Job Overview / Introduction

We are looking for a detail-oriented Tester to support the delivery of high-quality digital and technology services. The role focuses on validating that solutions meet user needs, technical requirements, and quality standards, while contributing to the continuous improvement of testing practices. The Tester will work as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, collaborating closely with developers, product owners, and other assurance roles.

Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and maintain test cases and test scenarios based on user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform a range of testing activities, including functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing.
  • Support testing of non-functional requirements such as performance, security, and usability where required.
  • Identify, log, and track defects, working closely with developers to support timely resolution.
  • Contribute to test planning, estimation, and risk-based prioritisation.
  • Support test automation activities, including maintaining automated test scripts where appropriate.
  • Validate fixes and support release readiness activities.
  • Ensure test evidence is captured and maintained to support audit and assurance needs.
  • Actively contribute to retrospectives and continuous improvement of testing practices.
  • Document and communicate architecture decisions and designs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge on emerging technologies and architectural best practices.
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
  • Assist the Head of Digital in developing Squarcle’s digital capabilities.
  • Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for all direct reports.

Secondary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Commit to continuous development by supporting the organisation of team events, training sessions and recruitment activities.
  • Carry out other duties as specified by the Manager.
  • Deputise for the Manager during periods of absence.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

Essential

  • Experience testing software applications or digital services.
  • Understanding of structured test design techniques and defect management.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methods and working in sprint-based teams.
  • Experience using test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
  • Experience testing cloud-hosted or distributed systems.
  • Awareness of accessibility and usability considerations.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate issues and risks to the wider team.
  • Document and communicate Test decisions and designs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge on emerging technologies and architectural best practices.
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

Desirable

  • Exposure to API, integration, or service-level testing.
  • Exposure to ITIL Framework.

  • Deputise for the Test Manager during periods of absence.

SC Clearance

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role. If it is not obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance is not obtained within 6 months. If you hold dual citizenship or nationality from another country, please make us aware of this during the application phase. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship.
