As a Senior Developer, you’ll play a key role in designing and developing high quality software solutions that directly support product and business objectives. You’ll work closely with Principal Engineers and Architects to define and champion engineering best practices, using your expertise in programming languages such as Java and C#, alongside scripting languages including Bash, Python or Ruby. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, results oriented and takes genuine ownership of technical challenges, leading research activities, technical spikes and proof of concepts to explore new ideas and identify effective solutions to complex problems.

Quality will be at the heart of everything you do. You’ll lead troubleshooting and issue resolution throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring the solutions you deliver are robust, scalable, maintainable and production-ready. You’ll champion Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and automated testing practices to maintain high standards of code quality and coverage. Through code reviews, pair programming and collaborative engineering practices, you’ll help establish a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. Experience developing within CI pipelines and following modern engineering and delivery best practices would be highly desirable.

Beyond your own development work, you’ll be an important technical leader within the team, supporting, coaching and mentoring other engineers while helping to raise engineering standards. Excellent communication and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams will be essential, as you’ll work closely with Product Owners, Engineers and Testers to define clear acceptance criteria and deliver high-quality software from inception through to production. Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure, particularly AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, SQS/SNS and EventBridge, would be a strong advantage.

How to prepare for a job interview at Spyro Soft

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
