Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer with strong infrastructure and DevOps expertise to help deliver and support a key transformation project moving the system from an on-premises environment into AWS. This role focuses on engineering robust, secure, and maintainable cloud infrastructure while ensuring resilience and reliability across all environments. You’ll work closely with external suppliers and internal technology teams including InfoSec, Login, and Networks to ensure integrations, deployments, and configurations are implemented to the highest standard.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS services such as CloudFormation, Lambda (Python), and Step Functions, alongside a solid understanding of load balancing, monitoring, and alerting within a DevOps context. Strong scripting skills in PowerShell (or Linux with a willingness to learn PowerShell) are essential, as you’ll be developing and maintaining automation scripts that underpin the system’s performance and reliability. Experience with GitHub and command-line tools is also required, as you’ll be managing version control, code reviews, and infrastructure updates in a highly collaborative environment.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the engineering standards of a high-profile broadcast and newsroom system used daily in live production. You’ll help evolve the platform toward a hybrid cloud model, ensuring resilience, performance, and security at scale. A proactive, detail-oriented team player with a passion for infrastructure engineering, automation, and collaboration will thrive in this role. Experience with SSO integration and newsroom systems would be advantageous but not essential.

Experience:
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work-based experience.
- Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with providing coaching and mentoring.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
- Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
- You are flexible and curious in your approach.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Additional information:
- Duration of the contract: initially 6 months with the possibility of extension – contract FTC full-time.
