We're a growing technology company building SaaS products while supporting a portfolio of client marketing websites. You'll join a collaborative engineering team where your work has direct impact - from keeping client sites healthy and performing to contributing to the development of our own products.
About the role: We're looking for a hands‑on engineer based in or around Bristol to own the day‑to‑day maintenance, content operations, and development of WordPress‑powered client websites, with a secondary focus on Drupal projects. You'll be the go‑to person for keeping sites fast, secure, and up to date, while also taking on build work as client requirements evolve. This is a great fit if you're a practical, detail‑oriented developer who enjoys variety - one day you might be building a new page template, the next you're diagnosing a plugin conflict or advising a client on their content structure.
Key responsibilities
- WordPress (Core Responsibility)
- Carry out regular maintenance: core, plugin, and theme updates with appropriate testing
- Implement content updates across client websites accurately and to brief
- Develop new pages, templates, and custom blocks using the block editor (Gutenberg) or theme builders (ACF, Elementor, or similar)
- Troubleshoot and resolve site issues, performance bottlenecks, and plugin conflicts
- Manage staging/production workflows and deployments
- Drupal (Supporting Role)
- Build and maintain custom components using Twig templates
- Use the Drupal admin UI to manage content types, views, and configuration
- Contribute to theming and front‑end work on Drupal projects alongside the wider team
- Analytics & Optimisation (Nice to Have)
- Implement and audit tracking using Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4
- Support on‑page SEO - meta data, structured data, sitemaps, and technical audits
- Stay informed on emerging areas, including AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) and apply best practices as they mature
Skills + requirements:
- Solid, proven WordPress experience — maintenance, content management, and custom development
- Familiarity with common WordPress tooling: ACF, WooCommerce (a plus), WP‑CLI, and page builders
- Experience with version control (Git) and basic deployment workflows
- Good communicator and able to manage client expectations and keep stakeholders informed
- Drupal experience: building custom components with Twig and using the Drupal admin interface
- Working knowledge of GA4 and Google Tag Manager
- Foundational SEO knowledge - both technical and on‑page
- Aware of or curious about AEO and GEO as LLM‑driven search continues to evolve
- Experience working in an agency or multi‑client environment
- Experience working with hosting platforms such as WpEngine, WHM
