How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary engineering organisation and play a critical role in shaping the future of our Precision Locator and CAT product lines. You will be a key member of the Engineering Senior Leadership Team, working collaboratively with Product and Project Management to define and deliver product and technology roadmaps. You will lead through others to deliver high-quality outcomes, ensuring strong alignment to business priorities while driving accountability for engineering delivery, quality, and timelines. This role requires a leader who can balance strategic thinking with execution, build strong teams, and foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
- Driving Results & Accountability
- Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across the Precision Locator and CAT product lines, ensuring high-quality outcomes and reliable execution.
- Take ownership for full product lifecycle delivery, from technology development through to industrialisation.
- Deliver consistent performance against timelines, quality standards, and business objectives.
- Act as a clear point of accountability, enabling transparent reporting and effective decision-making.
- Leading High-Performing Teams
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering organisation with strong accountability and collaboration.
- Develop leaders and technical specialists, strengthening capability and organisational effectiveness.
- Foster an inclusive and engaged team environment that supports high performance.
- Collaboration & Strategic Alignment
- Partner with Product Management, Project Management, and cross-functional teams to deliver aligned business outcomes.
- Build strong relationships across functions to ensure clarity of priorities and effective execution.

- Driving Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Champion continuous improvement and problem-solving across engineering teams.
- Lead adoption of best-practice engineering processes and tools to improve quality and delivery efficiency.
- Drive innovation through adoption of new technologies and ways of working, including digital and AI-enabled approaches where appropriate.
- Operational Excellence & Delivery Capability
- Promote a “first-time-right” approach to quality, speed, and reliability.
- Implement design-for-reuse and value engineering approaches to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Lead industrialisation activity to ensure effective transition from development into manufacturing.
- Define and manage external partnerships to strengthen delivery capability, flexibility and velocity.

- Expertise in building successful teams, facilitating change, and coaching others to high performance.
- Extensive experience in managing IP/Patent portfolios.
