Role Description The Health and Safety Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Walsall, responsible for overseeing health, safety, and environmental standards across roofing and cladding refurbishment projects. Day-to-day activities include developing, implementing, and monitoring site-specific health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments and method statement reviews, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards. The role involves performing regular site inspections, audits, and incident investigations, producing clear reports and action plans, and supporting continuous improvement in safety performance. The Health and Safety Manager will design and deliver safety training and toolbox talks, promote a positive safety culture, and work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to manage hazards and reduce risk. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining certification requirements, liaising with external bodies and auditors, and advising senior leadership on health, safety, and environmental matters.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge relevant to construction and refurbishment environments.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including environmental risk management and compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Candidates should possess expertise in Safety Training, including developing and delivering training programs, toolbox talks, and inductions.
  • Candidates should possess recognized health and safety qualifications such as NEBOSH (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or Construction Certificate).
  • Candidates should have experience in construction, roofing, or cladding projects, with a proven ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, influencing, and reporting skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and management.
  • Candidates should be familiar with UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices; membership of IOSH or similar.
