Location: Rugby

Salary: Negotiable for the right candidate, anything starting from £18.00ph UPWARDS depending on skills and experience. Plus Overtime!

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am - 17:30pm plus guaranteed daily 1hr overtime starting at 07:30.

My client, a busy and ever-growing company, dealing in construction and major projects, are looking for an experienced Plant Fitter who will be responsible for the provision of the plant equipment, to work at a site in Rugby.

The Plant Mechanic is responsible for the provision of the company’s plant equipment. The main duties of this role include:

  • Carrying out machine plant diagnostics, servicing and repairs to construction Equipment to the highest standard.

This role requires someone with a wide range of relevant experience in the maintenance and overhaul of contractors plant, of small and heavy plant ideally a C&G / N.V.Q. / B. TECH or equivalent, in a mechanical discipline.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build strong and positive relationships with all departments and teams.
  • Feedback any important information to Fleet & Plant management.
  • Promote Fleet & Plant in a professional manner.
  • React to any needs quickly, effectively and efficiently.
  • Carry out repairs to the highest standard to provide a First Time Fix.
  • Possess excellent laptop computer technical diagnostics skills.
  • Continually look to develop yourself through Courses and other Media when available.
  • Service and maintain Equipment to the Manufacturers specifications.
  • Operate mobile plant when required to ensure operation.
  • Maintain and improve Fleet & Plant section profile.
  • Present a professional image at all times.
  • Carry out all work practices in line with company health and safety policy.
  • Keep garage and workshops in a safe and tidy condition.
  • Maintain detailed spare parts inventory.
  • Contribute to overall success of operations through teamwork and good communication within Fleet & Plant.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary to fulfil the role.
  • Assist with other duties as directed by line management.

Essential Qualities:

  • Previous experience in mechanics (preferably plant vehicles, Construction vehicles, and agriculture).
  • Clear understanding of mechanical / hydraulic / electrical systems.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and express ideas clearly and confidently at all levels verbally, in print and via the telephone.
  • Teamwork, ability to work confidently within a group and on own initiative.
  • Time Management, ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks and working to deadlines.
  • Drive and determination to get things done, make things happen and continually look for better ways of doing things.
  • Analysing and Investigating, ability to gather information systematically to establish facts and principles for problem solving.
  • Flexibility, ability to adapt successfully to changing situations and environments.
  • Initiative and Self-Motivation, ability to act on initiative, identify opportunities and be proactive in putting forward ideas & solutions.
  • A relevant qualification in plant maintenance and repair C&G / N.V.Q. / B. TECH or equivalent, in a mechanical discipline.
