Opportunity for an experienced HGV Service Manager / HGV Fleet Manager to join a company in Reading.

Salary: £45,000 pa Plus Bonus Opportunities

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 45 hours a week

My client, a large Commercial Vehicle / HGV repairer, is looking for an experienced HGV Service Manager to join their sites in Reading.

The role involves:

  • Leading by example and inspiring the team around them.
  • Creating a good working atmosphere, enthusing and motivating the team.
  • Planning and controlling workforce resource availability to meet customer fleet demands.
  • Managing and controlling labour costs, including any use of third parties.
  • Complying with safety audits and managing working code of practice for contractors.
  • Ensuring planning for facilities, bays, machines, tools, diagnosis installations, etc. are carried out correctly.
  • Preparing planning and calculations for investments in workshops, facilities and HR.
  • Regularly reviewing prices for workshop services and adapting them to suit the market.
  • Measuring and reporting on daily workshop performance around retail sales, warranty and internal contract.
  • WIP management and cash control.
  • Employing new staff and carrying out effective induction.
  • Managing, coaching and motivating employees, ensuring retention of high-quality team members.
  • Defining target agreements with employees and reviewing the level of target achievement.

Competencies required:

  • Industry qualifications achieved to a minimum of Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or mechanical engineering (all modules completed).
