Graduate Teaching Assistant Leicester, Long-Term SEN Support Roles A psychology degree gives you the theory on attachment, development and behaviour. What it doesn't give you is any sense of what those things look like at half past nine on a Tuesday, in a real classroom, with a real student. Working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant is where that gap closes. Sprint Education Recruitment places graduates into long-term teaching assistant roles across Leicester, supporting students with SEN and complex needs in mainstream and specialist settings, including primary, secondary and alternative provision. If you're after a long-term placement rather than day-to-day cover, we'd like to hear from you. We work across Leicester and the surrounding towns, so whether you're in the city, Loughborough, Hinckley or Wigston, it's worth showing your interest. What a Graduate Teaching Assistant does day to day * Supports students 1:1 or in small groups so they can take part in the lesson alongside their peers * Applies the strategies set by teaching staff and the SENCO consistently, day after day * Adjusts how a task is presented without changing what's being learned * Watches closely and reports back what helps and what doesn't * Supports students through arrivals, transitions and less structured parts of the day * Learns from experienced staff, including therapists and specialists where they're involved Who this tends to suit * Graduates, or final year students, in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Criminology or similar * Anyone who's spent time around children or young people, including volunteering, coaching or care work * People who communicate plainly and are comfortable asking when they don't know something * Those who stay steady when a student is struggling, rather than rushing to fix it * Candidates available for full-time, long-term or permanent work * You'll need the right to work in the UK What we offer Weekly PAYE pay. A consultant who'll describe a setting honestly before you go there. Training in SEN and behaviour support as you build experience. Long-term placements, because most of what you'll learn only becomes visible over weeks. A good number of the graduates we place go on to permanent placements, teacher training, educational psychology or therapy routes. Why Sprint? If you're looking to work as a teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we're probably not the agency for you. But if you're passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a long-term role as an SEN Teaching Assistant, where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that's exactly what we do. Next Steps If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference, register your interest today. Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.
