The predicted salary is between 33865 - 41391 £ per year.
We are looking to appoint a teaching assistant who is qualified at Level 3, to work as a Hydrotherapy Lead to support swimming sessions across the week. The successful candidate will create a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment for pupils during swimming and hydrotherapy sessions.
You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the pool area, in order to support children with complex needs in accessing meaningful water-based learning. You will also lead and support swimming teaching for class groups, helping pupils develop confidence, key water skills, and positive relationships with swimming and movement.
You will be trained in the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPQL) or be willing to undertake this qualification. Please note - in order to complete the qualification you must have the following prerequisites:
- Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16 years old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool
- Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
Springwood is a large primary age Special School (385 pupils aged 5-11, growing to 415 pupils in September 2026) based over a number of sites, which caters for pupils with moderate, severe and complex needs.
