Timber Frame Technician

The Springfield Group are recruiting for a Trainee or Experienced Timber Frame/Joist Technician to join our team in Elgin.

Position Overview

You will be part of the timber frame design team responsible for preparing accurate drawings and layouts for timber frame structures, including floor joists, roof trusses, and wall panels. This role involves working with AutoCAD and specialist timber design software to support the production and on-site assembly of our builds. You will collaborate with colleagues to ensure that designs are accurate and compliant with current standards.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in construction design. Full training will be provided for trainee applicants, or Joist designers looking to develop into Timber Frame Design, making this an ideal role for individuals with a keen interest in design, construction, and modern methods of building.

Key Responsibilities

o  Assist in the preparation of timber frame design drawings using AutoCAD and related software.

o  Support the design and checking of floor joist, roof truss, and steel layouts.

o  Carry out general administrative duties to support the design department.

o  Learn to interpret architectural and structural drawings.

About You

o  Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office would be beneficial.

o  Attention to detail and an ability to visualise designs in 3D – or a willingness to develop these skills.

o  An interest in construction, timber frame design, and off-site manufacturing.

o  Willingness to learn and follow company procedures and technical standards.

o  Effective communication skills.
