Salaried GP in Salford

The Salaried General Practitioner (GP) plays a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate and patient-centred primary care to the practice population. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the postholder will provide comprehensive medical services, managing both acute and long-term conditions while promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention. The role requires excellent clinical judgement, effective communication and a commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based care. The Salaried GP will contribute to the ongoing development of practice services, support quality improvement initiatives and help ensure the practice meets its contractual, regulatory and clinical governance responsibilities. Main duties of the job include:

• Delivering safe, effective, evidence-based and patient-centred medical care to the practice population.
• Assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and long-term health conditions through face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations.
• Providing holistic clinical care, prescribing safely in accordance with national and local guidance, undertaking home visits where clinically appropriate, and making timely referrals to secondary care, community services and other healthcare professionals.
• Managing clinical correspondence, pathology and diagnostic results, prescriptions, medical reports and other administrative duties, ensuring accurate clinical coding, comprehensive record keeping and effective use of clinical systems.
• Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to support integrated care, contribute to the management of long-term conditions, deliver preventative healthcare and health promotion.
• Contributing positively to service development, supporting colleagues, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, maintaining patient confidentiality, and upholding the values of the practice.

Job responsibilities include:

• Delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
• Provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract.
• Clinically examining and assessing patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and planning clinical care accordingly.
• Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
• Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations.
• Effective management of long-term conditions.
• Supporting patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles.
• Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
• Adhering to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
• Contributing to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
• Attending and contributing effectively to practice meetings as required.
• Ensuring compliance with the appraisal process.
• Preparing and completing the revalidation process to remain fit to practice.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications: Qualified GP, MRCGP, Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent, JCPTGP Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
• Full GMC registration, Performers list registration, Indemnity, Occupational health clearance.
• Flexibility to work outside of core office hours, Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) commensurate with the role.
• Experience: Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Experience of working in a primary care environment, Experience of providing home visits, Minimum of two years as a salaried GP.
• Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including recording of accurate clinical notes.
• Understanding of safeguarding adults and children.
• Ability to work under pressure and in stressful situations.
