Job Title: Senior Project Manager

About the Role
The Senior Project Manager will, as part of the Centre of Excellence Team, provide project management expertise across the Springer Nature Journals Portfolio, to ensure strategically important workflow initiatives can be delivered in a timely and efficient way. They will ensure key SN journals stakeholders are well informed of project progress and workflow changes and will coordinate engagement as needed.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing complex initiatives across the Springer Nature journal publishing teams. This role involves coordinating cross-functional teams, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Senior Project Manager will apply best practices in project management to drive project success and support organizational goals.
Role Responsibilities:
- Project leadership β lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and strategic priorities
- Stakeholder engagement β collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on project status
- Project planning β develop comprehensive project plans that include timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies
- Team coordination β assemble and lead project teams, fostering collaboration and communication among team members and stakeholders
- Risk management β identify potential project risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and implement solutions to minimise impact
- Performance tracking β establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate project success and report on progress to (senior) management
- Process improvement β continuously assess project management processes and methodologies to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices
- Training and mentorship β provide guidance and support to junior team members, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in project management, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior or leadership role
- Proven experience with working in a global organisation, managing global and diverse project teams
- Proven experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders at various managerial levels
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (Monday.com/Microsoft Project, JIRA)
- Certified in project management (PRINCE, PPM or similar)
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and practical application of Lean and Six Sigma methodology is an advantage
- Knowledge of the STM Industry is an advantage
- Organisational and multitasking abilities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills β able to communicate with individuals at all levels and on a global scale
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
